President’s Message – August 2023

I hope this finds all CFMC members well and enjoying our traditionally hot summer here in southeastern North Carolina.  Now that the July 4th holiday is behind us, we can get ready for the next big celebration, Labor Day.  The summer makes us appreciate the blessings of living in an area that other folks only get to visit.  Be patient, the heat and crowds will diminish significantly in the coming weeks.  And we can enjoy our “quiet season” once again.  As the later portion of summer approaches, we are in the most active period of hurricane season.  According to the National Hurricane Center, the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is September 10, with most activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October.  Although it’s been a relatively quiet season so far, it only takes a single storm to be a “bad” year.  It is important to remain vigilant and prepared for dangerous weather. Have evacuation plans and routes in place in advance of a storm.

Unfortunately, our planned outing for July had to be cancelled; however, lots of good Miata weather remains, so let’s see if we can get activities scheduled for the upcoming months. Events can be road trips, visits to local sights, picnics, restaurant meals or a combination of these things.  Activities are the lifeblood of the CFMC, providing us with the opportunity to remain viable and enjoy fun, friendship, and fellowship with each other.  So, let’s get together!  Contact John or Peggy Harris at mx5miata16@gmail.com with your ideas.

Our second Saturday meetings at Bitty and Beaus are still on. For those who can make it, that provides a great opportunity for our club to stay connected and meet potential new members.  So please attend if possible.

Enjoy the remaining ‘dog days” of summer.  Our Miatas are made for this time of year.  Enjoy each day and I hope to see you soon.  Zoom-Zoom!

Ron Carmichael

Hi CFMC Members – This is the time of the year that we not only drive the same make of car but also the same color. With the abundance of pollen this year and the lack of rain, it looks like everything is turning yellow.  To the allergy sufferers, you have my sincere sympathy. A…
