President’s Message – December 2021

I hope this finds all our members safe and well and that everyone enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving with families or friends.  We can now focus on the final month of 2021 and look forward to the coming holidays.  For those of us procrastinators, we count the dwindling number of days remaining to complete all the items on our 2021 “to do” list. We are closing another unusual year for the CFMC in terms of activities and events.  While we resurrected some events, there were many months when we did not have a club activity.  I am hopeful that we can resume as many monthly events as possible in 2022.  Of course, the safety of our members is our top priority so we will proceed accordingly.  On a very positive note, we continued to increase our club membership in 2021.  I welcome all of our new members and appreciate the support and commitment of our existing members in getting the CFMC though these difficult and uncertain times.  I am convinced that we will return to our Club’s traditional operating mode soon.  Don’t give up on us!

There are a couple of club items that will be coming up early in 2022.  We will be selecting members for the positions of Activities director, Secretary and Facebook coordinator.  I want to express my thanks and sincere appreciation to Tom Pane outgoing Activities committee chair, Kevin Perham outgoing Secretary and Deb Perham outgoing Facebook coordinator for their many years of service and commitment to the CFMC.  It is the hard work of our officers, committee chairs and members that make the hallmarks of our Club possible.  We need members to step up to volunteer for leadership positions and to host activities and events.  In this regard, the nominating committee of Ken Schiess, Paul Reinmann and Sean Hsu will report on the candidates identified for these vacant positions in an article in this newsletter.  The club members will vote on the selection of the candidates for these positions and continuing officer and committee chair positions at our holiday party and annual meeting on January 9, 2022.  Plans are still on for this event at Circa 1922 restaurant in Wilmington.  Please see the latest update in this edition of the Ragtop Tales.

Because of the limited activities in 2020 and 2021 we have not had any club business meetings.  The annual meeting on January 9, 2022 will allow us to cover any business items that need attention.  Election of officers will be one item as well as the regular officer reports.  If members have any ideas about other topics you would like to have covered at our annual meeting, please email those to me (rcarmike@aol.com) NLT December 31.  While many may think it is time to put our Miata away for the winter, remember that we always have beautiful days in December and January for Miata rides.  Judy and I wish all of our members and their families safe, healthy and happy Holidays and New Year.  We hope to see all of you at our party and meeting on January 9.  Zoom-Zoom!

President’s Message – September 2022

Is summer really almost over? As Labor Day approaches, we make plans to celebrate our last holiday of the summer season. The coming days bring later sunrises, earlier sunsets, moderating temperatures, and hopefully, lower humidity. As I have mentioned in my previous columns, we are in the peak of hurricane season here in southeast North…

President’s Message – August 2022

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable July 4th holiday.  Historically, we are in the latter half of summer.  The waning of visits and vacations and the Labor Day weekend is just a month away.  It is also important to remember that the height of hurricane season in our area runs from late August…

President’s Message – July 2022

Well, one half of 2022 is in the books.  Summer is in full swing, and our thoughts turn to warm (hot!) days, visitors (lots of them), trips to the beaches, and the other beckoning attractions in our area. But don’t forget to be prepared for our unscheduled visitors; hurricanes.  Make sure to have those preparation…
