April Fun Run – April 15
We will be traveling around the northern third of Brunswick County (and a little bit of Columbus County). Mostly back roads (no dirt), as little highway as possible, and through farm and pasture lands. It will give you an idea of how much open land there is yet to be developed along with just a taste of the variety of the developments already here. Just as a reminder, this is the fastest developing county in North Carolina and one of the fastest in the country. So, each time we do this drive, it becomes more developed and less rural.
We will leave from the Lowe’s Food in the Brunswick Forest development in Leland. I hope to be on the road by 9:30 so that we will finish up for an early lunch about 11:45. I will be at Lowes at 8:40 for the early birds and to point you to the local coffee and/or breakfast snacks.
This trip should take about two and a half hours and cover a little less than 100 miles, so fuel won’t be an issue. There will be a rest stop (and fuel if needed) about an hour after the start, so feel free to have a coffee before we leave.
We will do this drive as a caravan, but each participant will receive a set of directions which also include a series of questions to be answered along the way. The questions are located alongside the route directions so your navigator will know when to be looking for the answers. If you are traveling solo, the questions will not be near turns so your hands will be free, as will your attention. (I drive a six speed). The directions are there in case you get separated due to traffic. There are a couple of places where we could get separated. We will try to wait along the side of the road for everyone to catch up but if you do get separated you will be able to find us by following the directions.
We will end at a restaurant for lunch. We will score the answers to see if you got them all correct. The worst score may have to buy lunch. (LOL!)
If you do not wish to join us for lunch, you are free to get on with your day once we conclude.
Zoom, Zoom!
