President’s Message – October 2024

As we head into fall, it is so nice to look forward to some cooler weather, with our tops down and a comfortable breeze in the air.

With that breeze comes a change for Norm and me.  We have had to make the difficult decision of staying here in NC or going back to our hometown just outside Syracuse, NY.  It is truly a bittersweet decision.  We have really enjoyed our time here in NC, and our time spent with the Cape Fear Miata Club.  When we moved here, we had one grandchild, and now we have four, with the youngest being 5, 4, and 9 months.  There were hopes they may have joined us down here, but that is no longer an option.  Nurturing these little ones is so important to us.  FaceTime is great, but not the same.  They are very happy we are heading back, and available to give them a hand.  Surprisingly, everyone back home says they can’t wait to spend more time with us again.  I think they are just being polite.

We will be attending the Ride to the Rodeo, and also the October 12 coffee hour.  We don’t expect to actually be moved out completely until early November, but dates have not been established yet.
I told Ron Carmichael, if anyone wants to have an extended adventure, we could meet somewhere between here and NY and have a joint event. The Midstate Miata Club and the Cape Fear Miata Club could each drive approximately 6 hours from each location and meet somewhere in the middle.  Just remember we only drive from May 1- Octoberish as our little cars get tucked in for a long winter’s nap!

We want to thank each and every one from the CFMC for giving us such a warm welcome and including us in this wonderful club.  Miata club members are really such special people.  They extend hospitality, camaraderie, and just plain fun to all who join.  We could not have met a more wonderful group.

With Heartfelt thanks,
Karen and Norm

President’s Message – November 2022

As we enter into the final two months of 2022, we begin to plan for the upcoming holidays and the hustle and bustle that they entail.  It also offers us in the CFMC time to look back on the year and forward to what we want to accomplish in the year ahead.  We will begin…

President’s Message – October 2022

October brings us to the final quarter of 2022.  I had to stop and think about that before I mentioned it in this month’s column.  We welcome the cooler nights and milder days that tease us before the colder realities of November and December arrive. I hope that everyone survived hurricane Ian and its impacts.…

President’s Message – September 2022

Is summer really almost over? As Labor Day approaches, we make plans to celebrate our last holiday of the summer season. The coming days bring later sunrises, earlier sunsets, moderating temperatures, and hopefully, lower humidity. As I have mentioned in my previous columns, we are in the peak of hurricane season here in southeast North…
