President’s Message – May 2025

Hi CFMC Members –

Finally, some real top-down weather! I hope everyone can take advantage of getting out on the road with the top dropped.

Congratulations to John and Deb McLendon for planning a successful Southport Scavenger Hunt outing. Judy and I were disappointed we couldn’t attend but I heard from one of our members that a fun time was had by all. We will get one of our extremely valuable “Activity Host” hats to you the next time we see you.

Our next scheduled outing is being planned by Alice Cavin and Patrick Miller to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue. I am anxious to visit and learn more about the turtle rescue and rehabilitation program since I’ve never been there. I have been able to visit the Missiles and More Museum on Topsail Island and found it to be very interesting and well worth the visit.

So far, the club has had an event planned each month this year and we need to keep that momentum going. Thank you to those members stepping forward with activity suggestions. New suggestions are always welcome. And our coffee socials are generally well attended.

See you at a future club event.

The crisp, cool mornings are a welcome respite from the lingering humidity we experienced in September and most of October. We started October off with a fun trip to the Highland Games in Laurinburg and…

With the approach of Labor Day, we realize that the waning days of summer are here. But for those of us familiar with the significance of the June- November period in this area, we realize that we are in the midst of our most active time for the potential for hazardous weather. Now is the…
