President’s Message – September 2025

What a fantastic turnout for the CFMC picnic on August 16th!  After several days of rain, and the threat of rain, the weatherman provided us with a beautiful day.  Thanks to Ron and Judy Carmichael for making the necessary reservations for the Saint James Waterway Park Pavillion and clearing our cars thru the security checkpoint. What a great location for a large gathering!  I think everyone had plenty of food, and the recommendation for Robert Wallace Catering was spot on.  Thanks again to Judy Judson and Paul Reinmann for coordinating the picnic – Paul earned the coveted Activity Host club hat. Special thanks to Mary Sue Wahl for bringing the checkbook and arranging the payment to Mr. Wallace.

We are looking forward to the next event, which is the Fort Caswell and Oak Island Lighthouse tour. Rick and Anne Piotrzkowski are sponsoring this outing for the club on October 4th, and it sounds very interesting.  In the 10 years Judy and I have lived in Wilmington, we have not taken either the lighthouse tour or the tour of Fort Caswell so this will be new to us. Thanks to Rick and Anne for sponsoring this event.

Just a reminder, there are still opportunities to sponsor events in September, November, and December, so if you have an idea for an event, please bring your idea to one of the club board members.

See you at a future club event!

Rick Judson

President’s Message – October 2022

I hope that everyone survived hurricane Ian and its impacts.…

President’s Message – September 2022

Is summer really almost over? As Labor Day approaches, we make plans to celebrate our last holiday of the summer season. The coming days bring later sunrises, earlier sunsets, moderating temperatures, and hopefully, lower humidity. As I have mentioned in my previous columns, we are in the peak of hurricane season here in southeast North…
