President’s Message – April 2022

Spring has arrived!  Now is time to get our Miatas ready for top-down weather.  A dire but necessary reminder as we enter the second quarter of 2022 is that hurricane season begins in a couple of months.   Now is the time to begin planning and preparation for various scenarios including the gathering of needed supplies, becoming aware of and familiar with the evacuation routes that exist, those that you will use, and to begin considering those locations where you might need to temporarily relocate.  Remember that planning and preparation are preludes to action and implementation.  So now is the time to prepare.

With the arrival of springtime, we are hoping to revitalize our CFMC events and activities.  Judy and I will be hosting a trip to the Airborne Museum in Fayetteville on April 12.  We will see a very special and unique display of the 1944 D-day Normandy invasion.  Please see the article in this month’s Ragtop Tales for details.  Responses are needed NLT April 5 from those planning to participate.  It should be a great trip to Fayetteville.  Also, the dogwoods should be on their way to full bloom for the annual Fayetteville Dogwood Festival which will begin on April 23.

We are in a critical need of identified events and hosts for the remaining months of this year.  It is very important to have hosts and activities for our Club if we are to remain viable, attract and retain our membership.  Hosting a day trip is not that difficult and once you’ve done it, you can really appreciate the importance of being a host of activities for our Club.  Please contact our Activities Directors, John and Peggy Harris at mx5miata16@gmail.com if you are willing to identify and host a club event. Your Club needs you!

April brings us several religious holidays, including Easter.  Judy and I hope you get to enjoy these with your families and friends.  Freedom of religion and speech are two of our most important American guarantees under our Constitution. Don’t ever take our freedoms for granted and remember to celebrate these freedoms as we exercise our religious liberties.  Let’s continue to remember those who are oppressed by the perpetrators of evil and support those patriots – past, present, and future, whose service and sacrifice make our freedoms possible.  Stay safe and healthy and I hope to see everyone real soon at a CFMC event.  Zoom-Zoom!

President’s Message – November 2023

As we wrap up October with summer-like weather, we know that the chilly winds and lower temperatures are only delayed, not avoided. November brings us the beginning of what for many, is the busiest time of the year. We’ll gain an hour as daylight…

President’s Message – September 2023

I hope this finds all members safe and well.  In a few days we’ll be celebrating Labor Day.  It seems as though Memorial Day, the unofficial beginning of summer, was only a short time ago.  With the recent heat indices in the 110–115-degree range, most of us will gladly welcome the relief that September’s cooler…
