President’s Message – August 2024

I want to start out by thanking our CFMC members for welcoming Bill Emerson and Nancy Ball, his navigator, to Wilmington, as they began their 9000+ mile journey in a 1999 Miata, circumnavigating the USA. For Norm and me, this was a first to have an out-of-state Miata enthusiast request a visit. We were his first stop, and after we had a quick dinner, Bill began his presentation. Bill is a very energetic gentleman, with a favorite saying, “Go Fast and have Fun.” Bill is the past president of Lake to Lake Miata Club, Ocala, FL, author of “The Healey Book”, automotive historian and former car show judge and race car driver. His copilot Nancy Ball is his sidekick and tour scribe. She also is a former fashion writer/editor/columnist/publicist from NYC. We met at Dram Tree Park, and took a picture of all of our cars with the bridge as our backdrop.

Please look at our Event write-up for more information on Bill’s story that he provided to me. I hope we have some members planning events for us all to enjoy. If you have any questions, or need help, please contact John and Peggy Harris. Without our members help in planning events, our calendar does not fill up.

This time of the year in southeastern NC is a perfect time to enjoy top-down weather in our favorite roadster.   As I write this column, we’re in Banner Elk, NC at approximately 4000 feet of elevation.  The air…

President’s Message – September 2021

September means no more post-8 PM sunsets, fewer 90-degree days and Labor Day – sure signs that the summer of 2021 is quickly coming to a close.  Like it or not, we are in the peak of hurricane season here in the southeastern NC.  Our mantra should be:  Be prepared just in case!  We also…
