President’s Message – October 2020

Welcome to Fall!  I think we all welcome the transition to cooler evenings and days that October brings.  Like everything else during 2020, we approach the final quarter of this year with uncertainty about the upcoming holidays and some trepidation about what we will and won’t be able to do in our traditional celebrations. While we sort out what the next 2-3 months will bring, let us focus on the changing beauty of October foliage and continue to take each day one at a time.  We have a couple of CFMC events for October.  Our virtual Bitty and Beaus coffee social will be “zoomed” on Saturday October 10. See this month’s Ragtop Tales for details on how to join the Zoom meeting.  Also, Paul and Rebecca Reinmann are planning a day outing to an outside venue sometime in October.  See this month’s activities column for more information.

On September 24, Paul Reinmann and I met with Jeremiah Carson, Service Manager at Stevenson Hendrick Mazda.  Jeremiah committed to continuing the relationship and support of the CFMC.  Details will have to be worked out on specific events, including our annual Tech Day.  We will share those details as they become finalized.  The new Mazda facility is quite impressive. I suggested to Jeremiah that a tour of the new facility by CFMC members might be an interesting activity to consider once the pandemic is under control.  When you go into the dealership for service, please introduce yourself to Jeremiah as a CFMC member.

As I promised in last month’s column, I have communicated with the CFMC Board (officers) about club issues that need to be addressed, such as our traditional January annual meeting and holiday party.  A summary of the issues discussed, decisions reached, and recommendations made from the CFMC board are described in a separate article in this month’s Ragtop Tales.

While I yearn for the ability to have in-person CFMC events and activities, my top priority is the safety of our members.  We must make sure that all governmental restrictions and safety considerations can be accommodated in any CFMC activity or event that is planned.  And, more importantly, we must ensure that our members feel comfortable and willing to participate in those events.  Until we can return to some form of normalcy, we will continue to look for innovative ways to keep our Club active and viable.  Members’ suggestions and recommendations are always welcome.  In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy and hopefully, we will be able to see each other “for real” soon.  Zoom-Zoom!

President’s Message – September 2021

September means no more post-8 PM sunsets, fewer 90-degree days and Labor Day – sure signs that the summer of 2021 is quickly coming to a close.  Like it or not, we are in the peak of hurricane season here in the southeastern NC.  Our mantra should be:  Be prepared just in case!  We also…

President’s Message – August 2021

In getting ready to write this month’s column, I had to double-check the calendar to make sure I had the correct month.  I did, and believe it or not, it really is August already.  Summer is quickly slipping by.  Hopefully we are all returning to most of our “former, normal routines.”  One of the positive…

President’s Message – July 2021

Don’t look now, but 2021 is half over!  Summertime is in full swing, and thankfully we are slowly returning to normal with visits to friends and family and everyday activities.  For another rude awakening, you only have 177 shopping days until Christmas!  When compared to 2020, this year’s July 4th celebrations will almost certainly be…
