President’s Message – June 2026

Greetings, Cape Fear Miata Enthusiasts!

We have officially arrived at the “Sweet Spot” of the Carolina coastal season. The days are long, the sunsets over the Cape Fear River and our Brunswick County coast are lingering just a bit longer, and the evening air is perfect for those “no-destination” drives. There’s nothing quite like looking in the rearview mirror and seeing a string of pop-up headlights and sleek ND curves following you down a winding backroad.

The Heat is on! As we head into June, we have to talk about the thermometer. While we are a “Ragtop” club, we all know the fact of SE NC heat and humidity. Remember to stay hydrated on your rides and you can always cheat a little and turn the AC on, even with the top down!

What’s on the Horizon? It looks like we have two events lined up for this month: our coffee social at the Stevenson Hendrick Mazda dealership, and also the Carmichaels are planning a “Beach Brew and ‘Cue” at Duplin Events Center in Kenansville. As I am writing this message early due to a May vacation away, please read more about this event later in this newsletter.

A Warm Welcome. I want to extend a special welcome to new members who have joined us recently. Whether you’ve just bought your first Miata or you’ve been driving them since 1989, we’re thrilled to have you in the family. Please make sure to introduce yourselves at the next meeting; we want to hear your “Miata Story.”

Final Thought. As the summer vacationers begin to fill up the beach roads, let’s remember to be the best ambassadors for the Miata community. Wave to your fellow drivers, keep the revs respectful in the neighborhoods, and always look for the long way home.

See you on the road!

President’s Message – August 2020

I hope this finds all of our CFMC members safe and healthy and surviving in the continuing climate of uncertainty and change.  We are definitely well into the “dog days of summer” as August arrives.  In addition to dealing with the heat and humidity, we also need to remember that we are approaching the peak…

President’s Message – July 2020

Summer has started and it’s July already.  But the beginning of this year’s summer season is hardly like those to which we’ve been accustomed.  Our “temporary” normal continues to impact our lives and activities. Many, if not most, of our traditional July 4th celebrations and activities are significantly altered, on hold, will be held virtually,…
